Apprentice Guide

Curious about the world of kayak guiding? This is an amazing way to gain experience before/while pursuing formal credentials. We highly encourage Haida Gwaii residents to apply for this position.

Apprentice Guides are accepted for one trip at a time. There are some opportunities to apprentice on multiple consecutive trips.

There is no better way to experience Gwaii Haanas than by Kayak or canoe as the Haida ancestors did. The magic and mystic of this place opens up to whoever makes the journey to visit. As a guide with GCK I enjoyed the great privilige of serving guests of Haida Gwaii. Over shared meals by the fire, encounters with wildlife, the pure beauty of this place...I witness the re-connection of people to nature, and to themselves. A truly transformative, heart opening, humbling experience I hope to be a part for many years to come! Haaw’a Gwaii Haanas. Haaw’a GCK.
