Green Coast is a local company offering guided wilderness expeditions that connect our guests with the people, land, and sea of Haida Gwaii. We specialize in multi-day sea kayak trips within Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site, and now offer a range of adventure services based out of Queen Charlotte.

Gwaii Haanas Expeditions

The heart and soul of Green Coast has always been our week long guided trips into the mystical Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site.  Communal living, respect for nature, and education define our way of being.

Our Company & Home

We are the only locally based operator offering kayak expeditions in Gwaii Haanas, and we are proud to show visitors Haida Gwaii, unceded Haida territory. All our operations are guided by a sense of community, environmental responsibility and education.

Bike, Kayak & Paddle Board Rentals

Getting into the wilderness doesn't necessarily require a week. The areas immediately accessible from Queen Charlotte are are remarkable, and we're passionate about getting you out there. If you've got a little less time, set out for a day - or a few - as part of a guided or unguided group.

Green Coast is run by young locals who are passionate about what they do and whose philosophy is to create a collaborative wilderness adventure that is fun, flexible, and safe. Our trip brought us to ancient Haida sites, pristine beachside campsites, ancient forest walks, bountiful fishing spots and we met plenty of wildlife along the way. I’ll never forget my midnight swim under the shooting stars with glowing salmon and a seal in phosphorescent waters! My only complaint is that no amount of paddling could burn off all the delicious food.

Haida Gwaii

Haida Gwaii is a remote and wild archipelago off the northwestern coast of British Columbia, Canada. Here, centuries-old cedar trees abut the ever-changing north Pacific Ocean, while mist and sunshine alter the landscape hourly. The 450 islands are the unceded territory of the Haida people, home to numerous endemic species of flora and fauna, and an essential breeding and feeding ground for a rich array of wildlife.

Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site is the focal point for many who journey out to the edge of the world. Uniquely co-managed by the Haida Nation and the Government of Canada, Haida villages sites set against dramatic backgrounds share the remarkable history of the Haida people. We are equally enamoured with the west coast of Graham island, thus the expansion of of services to this lesser-visited area. Accessible only by logging roads, an adventure out to these parts means stepping out to a corner of the islands, inaccessible to most who visit.

Time spent exploring Haida Gwaii is time spent immersed in an untrammelled wilderness, where the history of the Haida people and the vibrant culture of the islands today emerges as you paddle around the next rocky shoal. We believe there is no better way to immerse yourself in these islands than quietly and under your own power, moving gracefully across the water one stroke at a time. We're here to help show you the way.
