West Coast Kayak / HIKE Expedition

Length: 2 days – 1 night

Region: West Coast Haida Gwaii – Rennel Sound

Meals: Day 1 – Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks

Day 2 – Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks

Description: More so than anywhere else on Haida Gwaii, the West coast represents an untamed wilderness landscape where humans still bow to the forces of nature. The group departs from the Green Coast shop after breakfast in our rugged passenger van with all the required gear in tow, and by the afternoon we are paddling the various features of the coast before setting into a fire-side, locally sourced, dinner. This trip allows guests a brief glimpse over the “edge of the world” from the relative shelter of Rennel Sound where we camp in the lee of towering mountains that guard against prevailing winds. The option exists for guests to hike a backcountry trail to a remote Pacific Ocean inlet.Green Coast can provide all necessary camping equipment, and paddling instruction, so long as participants have appropriate clothing and an adventurous spirit.
